Front Lights Hid?

Hi All

I have just purchased a 98 Lexus GS300, please can someone tell me how I can tell if I have HID lights or just standard, I have no idea what to look for to tell the difference.

easy when its dark put the lights on, if its instant u have normal lights, if its hid they will get brighter after a few seconds

dont think you have I'm afraid

wait 'till its dark and turn them on.

the light level will raise up and level itself if they are HIDs

Thanks Guys I will wait for tonight and have ago.

Also I can tell you there is a leveling switch just down to the right of the steering wheel. If I had HID's would I need this?

no - HIDs are self levelling.

if you have that switch, thats pretty conclusive evidence you do not have HIDs I'm afraid :(

Hi,

I have just fitted Hid kits on my gs300se 1999,so i wouldnt think that you have them fitted,think they only fitted them on 2000 upwards.

They make a hell of a lot difference though, (their bostin) as they say.

As for the h/light leveller its there for you to change your lights if, for instance you have a weight in the back,you can adjust them down.

Its a company called Mobileautocare, on 01949837526, name is Andy,not sure if he has any more of 9006 tho might only have the 9005 which is the main beam.

You can ring him and find out. cost is a couple of hundred quid.

My T reg 1999 Gs300 Sport has HID lights. was a factory supplied enhancement on the 99 sport

I have HID lights, theyre not self levelling but have levelling ctrl :D

So now I am really confused , someone says that if I have the leveling switch I dont have HID's and someone else says that they have HID's and a leveling switch, any ideas how I can tell just by looking at the lights if they are HID's?

With normal lights, they come on instantly...whereas when you turn on HID it takes a second or so to turn on to the full brightness...
