Quick Key Question

I've searched through some old posts but at home for the minute and on dial up so it's taking for ages

Anyway my casing broke on my only key (2 button one - not master key) and I bought a new on from fleebay (2 button as well). What I need to know is if I buy a new blade for this key would I be able to use it as a spare? Not using the transponder but opening the car and starting the engine with the alarm going off for 10 seconds before it stops? Or is it only good for the casing which is what I bought it for in the firt place? :duh: :duh: :duh:

Any help here will probably stop me wasting anymore money :D

the blade is only good for opening and closing the locks. the transponder works the immobiliser (in the ignition) AND the wireless door lock control.
