Noisy Load Cover

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've got an 04 RX300SE and the sliding rear load cover is driving me insane  with the sound of near constant squeaking, so either I've got a family of mice living in it or somethings wrong with it.

When the car last went back for some noise issues (roof lining) I complained about the cover then and when I got the car back the noise had gone, but it has returned with a vengance.

Anyone else had similar problems and know how to solve it, I'd rather not have to take the car back again

Regards

Mine is completely quiet... although not had it on for about a month as I put it in the storage area in boot and ended up just leaving it there. Very few times I have anything in the boot that I need to cover.

Also guessing that some WD40 was probably applied and has worn off ??

Hi,

I've had two RX300 II's and both boot covers have been noisy. I actually think the cover is a bit naff & lets the car down.

Totally agree. I haven't been able to have the cover closed due to the annoying rattle against the tail gate. In the summer heat the stick on pads starting coming adrift and the sticky glue stopped the cover moving back as it should. After the cover came out of one of it's tracks for the umpteenth time I gave up and have never used it since! What a beautifully simple mechanism the Passat Estate had .
