V8 Motor For Is300?

I am in the US and hear rumors that Lexus is going to put either the 4.0 or 4.3 liter VVTi V8 from the GS model into the IS300 for a production model sometime next year.

I know Lexus made an IS300 concept car with this motor in it last year for the Tokyo Auto Show and there was a lot of buzz around it, but then nothing.

As of recently (at least in the US), I heard that Lexus wants to be more competetive with thier race program with the IS300, and to do that, they need more power, hence the V8. Since race programs require them to be based on production models, they will have to offer a V8 powered Lexus IS300 to the general public.

Anyone heard anything confirmed on this or have any links to sites that would have more information on this???

Any info appreciated.

A V8 powered RWD 6-speed IS300 would indeed be awsome!

Us muricans love V8's!

Thanks a lot. Always interested to read up on it. Part of me really likes the silky smooth inline-six, but the other part of me wants more power!

I've been driving Audi S4/S6's for the last few years, so I'm used to the smooth turbo I-5.

So, does the 4.3 fit in the IS300 engine bay without major modifications? I'll do a search on it and see what I can find, but I'll probably have more questions for you later! ;)

Thanks again,

I did a search on IS430 and didn't come up with much. Just a lot of rumors and heresay... but no real discussion or any confirmation about any such car being built.

I fear this is up there with the Lochness monster.

I'm having doubts to the validity of any of these rumors.

Don't get me all excited over nothing.... Does anyone have any concrete information that Lexus will be building the IS430?
