Just had a major B service done by my mechanic today, but when it came to changing the fuel filter he found the pipework was too corroded to risk untightening the union.

He is reluctant to cut the pipework back and replace with a rubber pipe as this part of the system is pressurised, and has asked me to sound it out with you guys.

Has anyone had this problem? How did you solve it?

Paul.

I spoke to the last Lexus dealer to do a B service, and he said they probably didn't replace the filter because the previous owner probably didn't want to pay for the replacement of the fuel line.

Unfortunately he couldn't bring up the service history because the car was previously on a private plate, and I don't have those detail's yet.

Seems to me that corroded fuel lines maybe a common problem on older Lexus cars. which is potentially a very dangerous fault!!

I can't believe Lexus didn't offer to rectify this FOC to the previous owner.

I've owned a lot of cars in my time and i've never had a problem like this before on any of them.

I'm questioning the Lexus reputation for excellence at the moment.

I'm going to speak to my local Lexus dealer tomorrow to see what they advize.

Maybe i'll be switching back to Honda soon.

If it was dangerous they'd have recalled them. I think it's just a problem when they try to replace the filter.
