Radius Arm Bush Rip Off

Hello All,

I have just been told by my mechanic on a service that I need to replace one of the radius arm bushes. He contacted Lexus and was duly informed that you have to buy a whole hub which includes the bush, and including labour it would cost around £500 (by my own mechanic, let alone Lexus!) . Does anyone know of a way of avoiding this cost as all I need is the radius arm bush. I am sure that other people will have encountered this problem and there must be somewhere where you can just get the bush for around £30!

Thanks for any advice on this.

Paul

The following are the IS bushes listed by the Electronic Parts Catalogue:-

Intake Valve Guide

Exhaust Valve Guide

Connecting Rod Small End

Planet Carrier Shaft

Clutch Pedal

Upper Clutch Pedal Spring Seat

Clutch Master Cylinder Push Rod Clevis

Manual Transmission Extension Housing

Floor Shift Control Shaft

Transmission Control Rod

Steering Main Shaft

Steering Tilt Lever

Brake Pedal

Front Disc Brake Cylinder Slide, No. 1

Front Shock Absorber

Front Stabiliser Bar, No. 1

Rear Stabiliser

Any of those ring a bell? I haven't got a clue what a radius arm does, but I guess it's nothing to do with the first three!

If you are talking about the lower arm bush that attaches into the rear hub carrier then i am afraid that the bush comes as part of the carrier. The carrier retails at about £125. On top of this you will need a wheel bearing as it is pressed into the carrier and usually falls apart when it is taken out.

I have asked about the labour time on this and it seems about a 3 hour job to do.

Don't know about antyhing aftermarket but you may be able to get the bush seperately although i think it would be a bugger to change.
