1st Gen. Directional Wheels-- Why?

Recommended Posts

hi all,

i have a 92 ls400 and the wheels are starting to pit. so i've found some reman'd lexus chrome wheels. they have 3 rights and 1 left. i know these are 'directional', but i don't know if it's functional for the brakes or just aesthetic?

thinking.. even if they are for cooling, if i put the 'backward' one in the back, where brakes aren't used near as much, do you think this would be ok?

lastly, again thinking they are for looks, people put aftermarket wheels on all the time, apparently to no detriment, right?

any thoughts are appreciated...

The wheels do cool the disc like a positive fan and is not cosmetic... failure to comply could result in 'brake fade'

right, noel. so many people put regular wheels on, you'd think this would have been as issue. even if they are 'backward', you'd think ANY air movement would be better than none, right?

What you saying here?

if the directional wheel creates a positive air flow to cool the brakes

if put on the wrong way would create a negative airflow

so one would be sucking hot air away

the other blowing it away

much the same i would have thought
