I was drivin along motorway on cruise when speed started to dip and rise, turned off cruise and continued at same speed manually, speedo started to dip and rise then stopped working, attempted to put cruise control on again wouldnt work. the speedo doesnt work, cruise doesnt work and the orange overdrive lamp on dash flashes on and off, anyone got any ideas?

I was under mine at the MOT yesterday and still can't remember but I'm guessing it has a speed sensor not a cable. The flashing OD light is a giveaway it's a transmission problem. I'd like a £ for every speed sensor I changed in the old Ford Scorpio's

Just to update everyone in case it happens to someone else, this was a speed sensor problem, the speed sensor fits into the gearbox and comming out of this sensor is a nylon gear that had worn smooth replaced this bolted speed sensor back in jobs a good un, cost £14. thanks for the advise folks
