Poor Reception On Bluetooth Connected Phone

Recommended Posts

I have a GS300 (latest 2005 model) and am using it with a Nokia 6810. The reception is poor when someone calls me, and despite taking it into Lexus Bracknell and getting them to change the settings, the reception is still poor with much distortion. Can anyone tell me how to change the settings and to what levels for clear reception.

I had a 7 series BMW before and whilst the Lexus beats it in most ways I have to say the implementation of Bluetooth and the ability to use the hands free system is way below that I was used to.

These are the settings on my car which seem to work.

1) Start the car

2) hold down the info button and switch lights on and off 5 times - service menu will appear

3) set incoming (top value) to +3

4) set outgoing voice (next value down) to +2

This seems to have fixed my reception problems.

I have the same problem on my GS300 56 Plate !.

I am told that the quality on the other end to my caller is poor.

I contacted Lexus Reading and they suggested a firmware update - has anyone gone through this process ?.

I also contacted Lexus Bracknell and they said they had no details on firmware updates ?!?....confusing information !.

What they did suggest is the tweaks on the Bluetooth suggested in this thread - I will give it a go !.

Try those settings that Rillo suggested as I did something similar with my IS250 and it made a massive difference.

A friend of mine owns a 450h and he had the firmware update installed on his because of the same issue. Isn't it the same system on the 300? He had done at Lexus Liverpool anyway so may be worth giving them a ring for some info first.

Thanks Geoffers !

I made the changes this morning - so will see what happens.

Would be interested in knowing what Bluetooth software versions people are running ?...mine are :

General Version : 1.01b

API version : 1.01b

Upper Stack Version : 02.0508

Lower Stack Version : 02.0302

Also interesting is that I think they might have changed the menu interface since Rillo's settings as my menu interface seemed to have some extra settings.

I have the following settings available to change :

Receive Value : Current Setting = 0 ( Changed to 3 as per Rillo's advice )

Send Value : Current Setting = 0 ( Changed to 2 as per Rillo's advice )

Voice Quality Type : Current Setting = blank

( Any ideas as to what this Voice Quality Type value does ? - It says to refer to the service manual but I cannot find any details on it ??? )

Cheers

Nick
