Hmmm Its A Bit Noisy..pneumatic Controlled Engine Taps?

Recommended Posts

hey hey

still loving the lexus experience!

the clock needle problem is soon to be sorted, thanks for the help everyone.

my next thing (suppose its what i get for buying a used car), the engine is knocking a bit (sounds like a tappet is out of sync), i called my mechanic who proceeded to tell me that you dont tune a ls400 its pneumaticly controlled and it will sort itself..... iam confused, iam no mechanic but it all sounds a bit iffy

Any one have any ideas? its a smooth as silk but its annoying me

thanks

Mark

He's wrong about the pneumatic valve lifters. The LS has buckets and shims and needs adjusting. It's quite a big job as well. Try doing a search as there have been a few posts on this subject before. Also your mechanic probably meant hydraulic rather than pneumatic (he was still wrong though).
