Aftermarket Head Unit In Is200se

Recommended Posts

has anyone any idea's of how to connect a aftermarket head unit to the is200 se and replacing the bottom loading 6dic oem. i would like to put my alpine unit in my car but have been told that it has a built in amp. does anyone have any idea's how i can connect this leaving the factory amp in. is it just straight iso connection?

also anyone got the part number for the sat nav ribbon as my screen has started changing colours.

the car is a v plate i200 1999. all help appreciated.

Shouldn't/couldn't there be some sort of pinned faq/guide in this forum. I know the info is probably here somewhere, but would be good to have some basic stuff collated to avoid just these sorts of repeat posts. I for one am in the same position of wanting to know what my options are for replacing the headunit but not quite got a clear idea yet... Different models having different amps internal/external, different headunits with upper or lower CD slot etc etc... :duh:

Just found this actually, exactly the sort of info I was looking for:

I agree mate as this subject comes up ALL the time :duh: .. Its only the S model that has an internal amp in the stereo. SE and Sport (that most people have) have the amp behind the glove box :winky:

yes you can (and have to) leave the stock amp in the car, otherwise no amount of electricary will get the nav working again.

you can add a pair of RCA's to the stock HU connector which will give you something to connect your new HU to,
