How Shiny Is Your Ball?

My shiny ball on top of my gearstick is starting to look less shiny and more scratchy - funnily enough, so is my wedding ring - wonder if there is a connection !?

Lexus Bristol quoted me £18 for a new one. That is only the chrome looking ball on the top.

I am guessing all those Gold Soverigns are causing the scratches?

Perhaps a pair of Alan P driving gloves would help with future damage.

Unless you guys are digging your nails in so tight, coz of the speeds your travelling at?

Mines pretty shiny too, though occasionally I give it a quick polish.

I have always wondered, is it plastic or metal? It gets very cold as metal might, but then it feels (and taps) like plastic!
