HELLO EVERYONE....

I NEED HELP DESPERATELY.

HAD A STEERING PROBLEM DIAGNOSED AS BEING DUE TO TOO MUCH PLAY IN THE UNIVERSAL JOINT CONNECTING THE STEERING COLUMN AND STEERING RACK..

BEEN TO LEXUS AND BOUGHT ONE FOR THE PRINCELY SUM OF 70 SQUID, AND NOW NEED TO IT IT.

IT LOOKS STRAIGHTFORWARD, COUPLE OF BOLTS AND PRESTO.

JUST AFTERSOME ADVICE ON HOW TO DO IT AND WHETHER THERE;S ANYTHNG I NEED TO BE AWARE OF?

goto say, never heard of the UJ failing ..ever...on any car

anyway, do you know where it goes, .but as you say couple of pinch bolts and knock the old joint off, make sure you knock it up the top shaft first to release it from the steering rack, then knock it of the steering column splines.

normally you would mark the joint to ensure its all lined up again, but in this case you may have to keep making some adjustments i would lock the steering wheel in place before removing the joint

its easy mate, but a suggestion spray the joint in wd40 and let it soak in over night as the bolts may be stuck. Also index the shafts as there is no master spline you can tap the joint UP then you can remove the lower shaft to give u room to then slide the joint off.
