Oem Bake Discs Warp Easily - Or Was It The Mechanic..

Had a local mechanic change the front discs and pads on my S reg GS 300 - he used OEM discs and pads.

Came back with a SERIOUS wobble on the steering wheel when you hit the brakes

He swears he's used these discs and pads on over 30 other (non-lexus) cars with no issues

Took the car to Lexus who fixed it - as soon as I said OEM discs and pads, they said - 'nah mate - gotta use Lexus parts - OEM always warps'

Is this true, or is it more likely the mechanic fitted them wrong? Just wondering as I haven't paid the mechanic yet!! Shame because he's been good until now on other things...

Why didnt you just go back to the original garage and get them to replace?

I got my wifes car done at a local garage - same issue - one was warped. Just took it back and they replaced no problem.

Probably not the guys fault - just already warped when he fitted....

total crap pure and simple..... oem parts and aftermarket (pattern) parts are in general made in the same factories but just go into different boxes, there are 1000's of people using non"lexus" braking parts and they dont have trouble.

I would have just gone back to the same guy that fitted the original set and asked him to replace them.

Also the fitting charge for pads/discs at lexus is horrendous to say the least especially as its a very quick job
