Firstly, Hello to everyone!

I have an LS400 on a H plate, and untill recently i have had trouble free motoring. About a month ago it appeared to dump all the water, and took it to my mechanic to look at it. After a bottle of Rad-weld the problem seemed to be sorted. Today on the way home, the engine started spluttering. I am suspecting a possible electrical problem, from the feel. I considered it being blocked jets, but I havent let the fuel get low enough to consider that being viable. Has anyone encountered this problem? or suggest anything?

Thank you!

Is there any water scattered over the engine?

Not that I can see, no. as you know its quite difficult to see anything under the bonnet. The car was driving fine, I drove 30 miles, and when I went to drive again there was no power. Its like on older cars, you would have a loose HT lead. I phoned my son to come and escort me as I was worried about it dying, the car coughed and bubbled and the more I steped on the accelerator, the more it died. I have thought that a cenario could be that there is water spurting out somewhere onto a lead where I cant see, which would explain it shorting out. <Confused>

I forgot to add that this is an intermittent problem, which seems to clear itself as I drove the remaining 5 miles perfectly, however I have lost confidence and cant afford to get stuck again. A few weeks ago it did chuck out a little dark smoke from the exhaust, when starting, which has made me wonder if its, fuel related. I cant think of any more symptoms that I have experienced, but If i do I will make sure I add them. Thanks again for your help.

Might be worth cleaning all plugs and leads, distributor caps etc........if it does it again try spraying WD40 over leads and distributors etc......

Sounds like tracking of HT current at a guess.....

my gs did this just after the rad went ,the engine had got hot and one of the plug leads had popped of .could not see it first of all and only found it by chance when i stated taking bits of .seems the steam and water etc had gotten under the lead and every time the engine got hot it would loose its connection due to the lead comming off .
