Mk Ii Gs300 - Loss Of Power :(

Recommended Posts

Hi,

On Thursday I moved a little quicky off from the lights, I had an annoying Range Rover to my left. A couple of miles later I notced that the the power felt a little lumpy, initially I though it was dirt in my fuel (and the fuel light had just come on). The lumpy power feed continued for the rest of my 10 mile journey home. Sadly the following morning it's still here.

It seems to strugggle to go above 2,000 rpm and seems to want to change up (slowly) at about 2,000 rpm!!!

Is it possible I over revved the engine and it's gone a little over protective?

Cheers

Jonny

Hi

Is yours a Mk 1 GS300 ? if so I don't know if they had limp home mode that early

If it happened very suddenly is there smoke from the exhaust ? blue / white / black or is that normal ?

Was it raining or had the car washed very very recently ?

Have you looked under the bonnet to see if anything has "fallen off" or become disconected ?

Check all the vacuum hoses are on, some of these are hidden on the rear RH side of the engine, and under the inlet manifold looking from the front RH side

Check all the electrical connectors and unplug the connectors and reconnect them (seems like a thousand of the little ****s)

Disconect the negative on the Battery and leave it alone for a few minutes to reset the brain

Reconnect the Battery and try it again and it may have cleared the fault
