Bad Day

Recommended Posts

Was checking my tire pressure on Sunday - and noticed that my front drivers side tyre was worn.

Very worn (F1 slick like) on the outside edge.

Not good news - at the 20k service a few months ago, I had a full 4 way alignment, and 4 new tyres put on.

7000 miles later, and the outside edge is bald - surely a tracking problem.

Call my dealer, excellent response, bring it in now Mr McNally - lets have a look.

They take a look - yup!

Defintely irregularly worn, fit me in for that afternoon for a re-alignment, and to check to the tyres.

Alignment was out - £65 for the alignment, two front tyres are toast - they have to be replaced another £280.

Tyres were not in stock, but they got an order in for tomorrow, so can drop my car off on the way in, pick up courtesy car, then swap back on the way home.

So whilst I am truly unhappy about having to get two new tyres to replace two that are 4 months / 7k miles old, must still offer praise to the dealers, they went full out to fit me in and sort me out today.

its at times like this you check your wallet to make sure that gold card is in there!

theres no way a dealer having done alignment only a few months ago can justify YOU paying for it again, id quitly suggest they redo the alignment at there cost and replace the tyres.........aswell

there can be no possible reason for both front wheels to be that much out...to wear the OUTSIDES of the tyres in 7000 miles

unless it was done incorectly.....

or go public...small claims

also.......thats defo tracking.......

tracking being knocked out usally wears the inside edges...not the outside, it looks to me as though they have adjusted the wrong way when doing the settings..........its practically impossible to get your tracking knocked so that BOTH wheels will wear on the outside

...........

any more help mat, just ask

Mat

thanks a lot - the value of being in this club never ceases to amaze me.

I shall be taking this tack tomorrow with the dealer, unfortuntaly I have already paid for the re-alignment, however I shall consider not paying for the tyres, and a set of mats to be suitable recompense ( :P )

cheers mate - I shall let you know how I get on tomorrow

;)
