Is220 Cd Player

Recommended Posts

I've had my Lexus since new - October 2000 - had a couple of gliches but they were all rectified. Now my CD player is not working - I thought I'd got away with the problems that all Lexus appear to have but last year it decided it wasn't going to work at all!! I have an iPod which I use through the stereo but would like to know how easy it is to get the unit out. I managed to rescue all the CD's but one and it's playing on my mind!!! Is the unit easy to remove? Would I be able to remove the CD and get the unit working again or is it big money?

Thanks in advance.

If you PM me an email address I have a walkthru to show you how to get the Unit out.

To get it working again is big bucks, with no guarantee it will stay fixed.

You can buy a working one from E-Bay but again no guarantees.

If you are after a second hand one, you need to ensure the tiny number by

the cassette slot is identical to the one you are buying

Ie:- 13901-13906 etc.

Is your IS200 an S, SE, or Sport ?

Most people actually replace the unit with an aftermarket CD player.

If you need any more info , just message me.

Hiya

Thanks for your email. Mine is the SE. Thanks for all the info I'll have to have a good look at all the options. Lexus asked me when I had problems with my ignition barrel whether the CD was working properly as they had extended the warranty on it to 5 years. Of course, at the time it was perfect and then when it reached it's 6 birthday it broke! Just typical!

Thanks in advance.

There's another option to fixing it (reapairing it does cost quite a bit and there's no guarantee it won't go again.)

Mine went and instead of replacing it I fitted the ipod adapter that Sonnet found - it connects into the back of the stereo and plays from the ipod directly (so sound quality is excellent) and allows you to control the ipod via the stereo controls (volume, next previous track, playlist select, shuffle etc.)

Link to info on the adapter

Link to walkthrough on how to install it.

It's what I did and I certainly haven't missed not having CD's since.
