Acceleration In The Gs300

From a standstill my new GS seems to take off very quickly most of the time and gets up to around 50 miles per hour in short order. However, when driving around 60 or so and ask it to accelerate it seem quite slow taking you to 80 mph. This is driving in normal automatic mode. Is this normal? I ask because I also seem to be experiencing occassional delay's on take off and I wonder if it might be related.

Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry I'm not sure what a ECU is or how to go about resetting it. Could I trouble you to elaborate. Is ECU the electronically controlled transmission, perhaps referred to as something different in the UK. Would this topic be covered in the owner manual. Could I ask the dealer to do it? I was told that attempting any work on car myself would void the warranty.

Yes I agree there must be a problem with the transmission.

ETCS-i - Electronic Throttle Control System - intelligent: advanced computerised engine management system

5-speed automatic Electronically Controlled Transmission (ECT-i) with intelligent computer control and E shift

I find that crusing at 60 and accelerating to 90 is very quick both in normal and power mode and smooth as silk. Quicker than my friends CLK Merc.

If I had this problem I would head to my Lexus dealer and test drive a similar model.

antione,

Rodders is probably right, however what the GS is heavily computerised to provide a smooth and responsive power curve. If it doesn't there may be something wrong, probably minor.

I have a suspicion. What fuel are you using?

First, you must judge the fault from enginge or autotransmission.Stopping your car and the slecter lever in"p",accelerate the engine from idle to thorrotlle wide open quickly,if the engine's response is in the pink, the fault in transmission, per contra,in engine.if fault in autotranmissin, first, make a stall to judge is in torque converter or transmission interior or electronic control system.
