Silly Question !

Recommended Posts

Had two new front tyres fitted last week ( originals did 16000 miles !) and now the steering wheel does not seem to be in "straight ahead " position. Perhaps it has always been out of kilter but I don't think so.

Is it possible that the simple fitting of new tyres could produce such an affect ?

Cheers.

In a word.......yes, tyres can have a bias when manufactured, this is can be signified by a coloured strip around the circumfrence, it can vary as to placement depending on the measurement at inspection, this also depends on manufacturer too.....some colour strips can indicate different types of tyre in the car plant on assembly...easier to sort out in a rack than reading the sidewall!

Might be worth (if they are not directional) swopping from side to side and see if it makes a difference.

Otherwise you need to get tracking checked....nothing more annoying than an out of alignment wheel.

Best regards David
