Es300 Maintanence

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a 99 ES300 which is now at 92K. When I got the car it had 74K, and as far as I know, no standard service was done to the car (like replacing the timing belts, etc). Lexus dealership is urging me to do the 90K service (for which they want to charge $1500), and I am not yet willing to spend this much money on it. Does anyone know here what I definitely should replace, if anything? Also, I have a VSC/VSC OFF lights which light up at very random moments, and disappear when I restart the car. Should I do anything about it? I had Check Airbag light go on once, so I went to the dealership, where for $80 they told me that some wires under the seat got twisted and some connector disconnected, so they just had to reconnect it for the light to go off. Is it possible that the same is happening with the VSC light, and if so, where do I have to look for those connectors? Oh, and one more thing. When I start the car, and just start going, after 1 or 2 seconds a hear a click somewhere from the front of the car, which appears the next time, consistently, after the car is restarted and I start going again. What can this be?

Thank you in advance,

Alex.

Hello,

We also have a 1999 ES300 with 71,000 miles on it. The VSC light has come on about 3 different times after applying the brakes, once in snow, and the other times in panic stops. It stayed on until we turned off the car for about 5 minutes and restarted it. The last time it did occur, the check engine light also lighted.

Has anyone had the same experience?

I also have had the same experience with a '98 gs400. Has anyone found what the problem might be and/or a solution for it?

Hi,

I also have the same issue with the VSC / VSC OFF light with engine light on. But I have had the same issue before - and since I was on warranty at that time, the Lexus dealership fixed that free of charge.

They told me that the issue was with a fuel or oxygen sensor. They believed that if the gas tank was improperly shut then this light could show up. They had replaced the sensor for me and the lights went away for almost two years.

They have re-appeared since last week. I wonder if its a summer thing ? Anyway, I dont think that its serious, but I will take it to the dealership. I have extended my warranty from Lexus, so I hope they will not charge me.

Hope that helps. B)
