Just Joined And Looking For Advice (so Be Gentle, Lol)

Recommended Posts

I have just registered today, I dont presently own a Lexus but am looking to get one.

I am looking for an older one (pre 2001) to try them out and get used to them.

Which model should I be looking at for reliability and price.

Only looking to spend up to a few grand for the first one.

Over to you!!

Hi and welcome to LOC.

Good choice in Lexus but which model, really depends on your needs. Big luxury liner as in the LS or sporty executive in the GS or sporty smaller exec in the IS or of course the RX for luxury 4X4 SUV.

All available on varied budgets depending on age and condition and all models are pretty much bulletproof in terms of reliability.

But it really comes down to your needs family etc.

Whichever model you go for you will be a happy chappy and the guys on here will give you shed loads of help and advice.

Happy hunting.

To be honest I havent got a clue about the model.

We all have our own cars, except for my 14 yr old.

I presently have a Vectra Estate but looking for a change.

I have always fancied a Lexus but assumed they were all out of my price range.

But looking about I see they arent.

Havent done much research yet so thought I would consult the owners.

As my nickname says I spend a month at sea and a month at home so dont do a great mileage.

And wont have a new car stuck in the garage depreciating.

Lets ask the same question but another way then.

Is there a Lexus to avoid?

Have a look in the knowledge section you'll find everything you need to on which model you want, all 200's have the same straight 6 its just the spec thats different between the "S" (Base Model) "SE" (Few extras) "Sport" (loaded). Depends on budget too.

Oh and welcome :D

Lexus "Don't do bad Lexus"

It really depends on your needs. Look at all the models and see if size matters? What shape you like? Big car Medium car smaller car?

If you don't do much mileage then does MPG bother you? You must have picked the "Vectra" for a reason? Comfort! Speed! Toting things around! Looks!

So do the same with Lexus.

I got the Vectra because it was cheap, had all the bits and pieces I wanted and after having small cars to get kids through driving test wanted a bigger engined car for a change.

The Estate was obviously to carry gear round but I am now going to get a trailor so can have a "decent" car again.

I am looking pre 2001 to negate the huge Car Tax rises.

I know this sounds dumb, it does even to me!!
