Hey you could always install a portable satnav into the unit, myself and a few others have done that successfully, if it turns out to be the screen i have a spare one with the IR receiver.

Mmmmm.....sounds like a good idea!

Have you any pictures of the said portable nav screen?

How does it power up and is it still removable or fixed?

Sorry about all the questions just its annoying having a duff screen let alone one that gives you road maps of 9 years ago!! :crybaby:

It usually is the ribbon cable but on the odd occasion (if you are very lucky) it may just be the connectors. If you are even more lucky, it will be the connectors on the unit in the boot. Just unplug them and plug them back in.

Do the same with the headunit but while it is out, tak e off the cover and remove and re-insert the ribbon cable as it may just be a poor connection rather than broken.

I do agree with Durrantie though - if you can do it with another unit you will get a lot more benefits.

Your right John, it does look really complicated & i suppose it is if your not very mechanical or never done anything like this before - I did mine in a weekend taking plenty time to note where everything went & how it goes back!
