Rx400h -- Uncomfortable Drivers Seat ?

Recommended Posts

Hello all

Just recently took delivery of a 2008 RX400h. It is a very good car but for some reason, I find the drivers seat to be uncomfortable -- after spending 25 minutes in the vehicle, I start to develop a pain immediately below the bottom of the back of my neck.

It is a very strange problem as my back is fine -- I drive other vehicles and find no such problem. On examining the drivers seat, I have noticed that the seat is very flat immediately above the lumbar support area -- there is no real padding as such either and I find this unusual -- most seats do have some kind of support in this area or at least slight padding.

Just wondered if any other RX drivers find this problem ? It would help if someone roughly my height (6ft) could provide an answer (as this would obviously have an effect on seating position)

Many thanks

ETA: I have played around with the seat position a great deal and still no luck.

If it's hurting you around or just beneath your neck it is unlikely to be your seat but the way you are sitting relative to the steering wheel and pedals. It means your sitting slightly twisted or straining slightly when holding the wheel rather than sitting perfectly square, try adjusting the reach on the steering wheel.

In my experience Lexus seats are the weak part of the experience for some. I found that the padding /support went in my seat base after about 12000 miles. I spoke to Lexus about it and they replaced the seat for me.

In fact I have had seats replaced in LS, GS and RX!!! Maybe I have a wonky bum?!! :)

On my RX400h an annoying fold of leather developed on the seat base that did become uncomfortable for me. Lexus replaced this and I now find the seats fine.

Your problem sounds like a case of experimenting with the seat position rather than a problem with the seat itself. Don't forget to experiment with the lumbar support which will alter the curve of your back and which may improve things for you.
