Is stinks from what you say, the engine didn't push a rod through the block did it? You would see this still after a fire, this might indicate no oil put back in the engine or a badly fitted oil filter. Does the receipt say exactly what they did on the service?

Steve the receipt states all the usual bits done on a service and they have all been Ticked

Name and shame thats a bit harsh

Peugeot insurance(AXA)

And before you say it i know he's got a vauxhall he changed his pugget for the vauxhall and just swapped the insurance over

Dont waste any time.. contact the FSA.. its unreasonable to expect that your car would not be covered due to fire damage. If there has been no formal inspection done on the vehicle then there is no way to determine what caused the fire. It could be elecrical, it could be that a lit cigarette was left in the engine bay, maybe someb ody throw a petrol bomb at it!! the reasons go from reasonable to extreme and there are too many to consider to even think that this can be dismissed so easily.

i wuold request a full report from Kwick fit AND the insurers and then once you have that you will know. If they cannot do this then one of the two, more than likely the insurer, will have to pay out.

Your duty as a customer is to submit a claim. The insure has to determine that a claim has or hasnt met the t's and c's of your policy.

I cannot see how they have done this.

The FSA is the regulator for insurance products and i would get them involved straight away as in my experience your claim is valid or would be suibject to further investigation. If they will not pay out for the further inspection then they have a duty to uphold the claim. They have to demonstrate that the t's and c's havnet been met.

I speak from experince as i work in the insurance business of a mobile retailer and even though the area differs the same rules apply.

If you dont get anywhere and i will ask one of the legal bods there interpretation but im sure you have a strong case..
