Has Anyone Actually Fitted An Aftermarket Alarm?

Hi all,

I have been on Fipsy's post below,and have the same problem.

Went to the dealer, lots of umming and whatever and they suggested having an aftermarket alarm fitted....went to the experts they use...they said that as the alarm (which is seperate to the immobiliser) is connected to the ecu, they could not fit an aftermarket alarm, as the ecu would get upset and tell my car not to work !!

I know about the tests, metal in the ashtray, full moon in bratislava etc etc, and have looked back 5 years on the posts, but no-one actually says they have done it.

Anybody ?

Or she goes in and has the roof lining, pillars etc all stripped out to find....er...well...whatever...£££££ ???

Must action this quick, I even have to keep the keys by the bed, to switch the b###### off at three in the morning, me and the neighbours are losing beauty sleep.

It's definitely possible as I remember many years ago that there were members on here that had Clifford alarms with remote start and all sorts of other goodies.

Sorry I can't really help further than that except to suggest speaking to a few different alarm specialists as they clearly don't know what they're talking about.

seeing as your in derby, why not pop down to the meet at Top Boss Performance where the guys form Bass Junkies will be and they can advise on fitting a new system. They are clifford dealers/specialists so if anybody can do it they can!!

prob because the standard alarm is actually a very good cat 1.

i believe its more popular in america..
