Boot Popper

Recommended Posts

iv noticed sometimes when i hold in the boot popper the boot only unlocks and you have to pull it up and then sometimes it slowly lifts... is this just how they are? as i expected a bit of spring action like my merc does wich would probably knock you out if your face was above the boot... anyway what can i do to make it more lively?

boots with the spoilers on can lift slower if they havnt had the spoiler springs installed. However the boots can all stick if they dont get opened very often, dirt and stuff causes this round the seals and a quick tug normally fixes it after which it should be fine

Springs weaken over time.

My IS200 boot (no spoiler) just pops- best way IMO, you don't want the boot to pop so fast that it goes through your rear window!

Have a read of this VIAGRA thread.

Some of the guys have fitted a small hydraulic lifter to the boot.

There is a part number, a link to RS, and I think some sort of instruction on where to mount the lifter.

There used to be pictures, but it looks like they have taken them down. I’m sure if you asked nicely some one will still have a pic for you (STAVS ??).

This is something I have been meaning to do, but always had something come up. After being reminded by this post, I think I will order one now !
