Engine Going Cold

Hi everyone i have just bought my first lexus is200 se after having owned several bmw, the problem i am getting with the is200 is when the engine has warmed up and i drive the car the temp needle starts to go back down to cold and the choke comes on, i have had the thermosat changed the car has only done 28k and i only drive about 6miles a day can anyone please help me, thanks

sounds exactly like problems with tharmostat. maybe you have a faulty unit. start cold car, open bonnet and check lower radiator hose. it should stay cold untill normal engine temperature is reached. if it turns warm before that, than its thermostat.

or, take out thermostat, take it home and boil in water, and see how and when it opens. sould open when water starts to boil. also check coolant level.
