Air Filters

Hi all, looking to change my air and oil filters. Has anyone used the K&N filter at about £50.00 which apparently is washable and guaranteed for the life of the car.

If so thoughts please, are they worth it.

As for oil filter genuine or motor factor, and what engine oil is best used.

As this is my first LS400 1993, i want to get it right. Cheers.

Got a K&N filter in my IS200- its a good filter. The engine will sound a bit more throaty and they reckon your mpg might increase by 1-2 mpg (I'm not so sure?).

Best thing about the K&N filter is its a lifetime filter, meaning you only need to clean it now and again.

As for oil filter, I'd go with the OEM Toyota filter and 5w-30 oil is best suited to Toyota engines.

Hi guys,

I put a K+N filter in my 1995 LS and didn't notice any difference in economy or performance.

Yes they are good quality filters, they are much finer than paper ones so they trap more dirt, but assuming you change your current filter about once a year it's going to take you five years to break even.

Having said all that, you do get a really cool little sticker to let everyone know that every now and again you are going to be nailing that V8 and leaving them for dust!
