Just bought a LS400 and the c/l works from the key in the passenger door OK. If I unlock from the drivers door however, it unlocks OK but sets off the alarm. Any ideas?

Hi and welcome to LOC.

Its helpfull if you add the year and mark in your profile so that viewers know which car you are enquiring about as they do differ between marks. From your other posts I am thinking you have a 1993 MKII.

You will see that I have posted a new thread about the siren on my car. Before posting I searched "alarm" and whilst I didnt solve my problem, I'm almost sure that there is an answer that will help you. I think its to do with the fitting inside the door being dirty. Have a look.

Did you only get keys or did you get a remote fob?

Only one key, sadly. Plus a hooky unbranded alarm remote unfortunately. I'll add my details as you suggest if I can find where to put them ;-)

Hi again. If you go into "My Controls" at the top of the screen you can change your details.

It might be worth taking a piccy of the remote and uploading it. Almost all the remotes are so old you would never read a manufacturer detail. There are quite a few pics of remotes that have been posted previously, search "alarm" again and have a look. You never know, half hour research and a Battery might proove fruitfull.

The central cloaking on mine works fine, I press a button and the car becomes invisible just like the Klingon Bird of Prey in Star Trek :whistling:

Seriously is the alarm system after market or the original Lexus fitted system?

There have been problems with the switch on the end of the lock barrel and another is the courtesy light door switch ( open the driver's door and push it in and out and see if the interior light comes on when it should).

It's not the alarm. From the passenger door - all locks. from the drivers door it just locks that door. If I lock from passenger door (did I mention the car didn't have a remote fob that works ;-) - if I forget and unlock the car from the drivers door the alarm goes off. From the look of the fob, it must be aftermarket.... (tat)

Ok in that case it will probably be the switch on the end of the lock barrel, you will have to remove the inner door panel ( info on how to on www.lexls.com) and then you can see the switch, it's not easy to get it out but 1st try some switch cleaner on it and work the lock a few times also make sure the wiring is all attached to it, I think there are 3 wires.

If you follow the link below the last picture shows the lock with the cream coloured switch on the end.

Phew, changed the Battery in the remote and the doors lock and unlock OK now - means I don't have to rush to fix the door now, looks really fiddly...
