Beware Boot Lid Ice Hazard!

Recommended Posts

The recent spells of ice and snow exposed the following hazard.

When opening the boot lid covered in ice, the ice slid off onto the rear window, then promptly slid off the window, dropped through the gap between the lid and the window, and neatly filled the boot with ice!

A moment's thought would obviously avoid this but it was remarkably easy to fall into this trap.

Another one to watch out for (although not to much on Saloons) is the ice on the boot/hatch can be heavy !

As happened to me the other day on my wifes car - Lifted up the boot, went to lift something in..... Boot lid dropped slightly due to it being covered in ice and the weight associated with it.... Head hit boot lid... lots of jumping about and foul language !! :tsktsk: :tsktsk: :tsktsk:
