This story has a happy ending, but just wanted to issue a few words of caution (probably common sense to most!!).

In the hot weather, was wearing a pair of shorts, which had zips on the back pocket. Got in my beloved SEL, and managed to rip the leather. You cannot imagine how upset I was about this, and to make matters worse it was late on a Saturday and there was nobody I could contact for advice.

Anyway, found a fantastic company in Sandbach called CCTRIM. They thought it might need re-patching, but took the car in this morning, and have just got it back. Because the damage was close to the edge, the leather was soft enough to re-position, so all is well again. You would never know there had been a problem.

So take care......make sure there is nothing sharp in your back pockets. It's not a nice feeling when you do something a stupid as I did.

done that before-used to use a retrimmers in london who were good, sounds like you were lucky, what did they charge you out of interest ?

£88.12 including the VAT. Can't really complain, as it was quite a bit of work - taking the seat out etc. I think a retrim would have been £110+ VAT (ish), but once he got the seat cover off, he was able to use the existing leather. Probably better than having a re-patch, as I was worried that it wouldn't be 100% identical leather etc.

sounds like a bargain tbh - good u got away with original material too or it would of always been in your mind that the new leather wasnt a perfect match in my experience

The wife has just scratched my SEL all down the near side on our late garden hedge , I know how you feel.tomato.gif

Be careful what you say.......they take it to heart. In 1988, I bought a brand new Cavalier SRi-130 (yes, it was a few years back). The Missus took out the whole of the spoiler on one side on a very high kerb. My language was pretty bad.......she didn't talk to me for a week, and it was her that broke the car :crybaby: She's never driven my SEL
