Induction Kit

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of putting my own induction kit together soon and came accross this on ebay: -

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UNIVERSAL-DUAL-TWIN-INTAKE-AIR-INDUCTION-FILTER-KIT-/160385742782?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2557bc37be

It looks quite cool, but any good?

Anybody had any experience with mushroom filters, are they as loud as apexi filters as I have been used to in the past?

Thanks

I have always gone for cone filters over the mushroom ones however I dont think there is much difference in induction noise. I know my power enterprise one seemed to only be slightly more aggressive than my mates HKS Mushroom when we had Starlets.

Dont buy cheap intakes as ones like that in the picture will do nothing!

I'd go with an Apexi or K&N pod filter. They offer the best flow & filtration. HKS & other foam pods flow really well but don't filter much.

That twin filter eBay thing would probably decrease power. It's a black art designing intake systems, especially ones that increase power. You'd be better off sticking with a K&N panel in the factory air box IMO.

But if he is after induction noise he wont get this from a panel filter. Those induction kits Prloex sell on eBay with the long chrome intake pipe do they suffer from heat soak as it appears the intake pipe goes across the engine which of course gets hot and would heat up the chrome pipe.
