well, still in a mess...car on the drive - road tax until June 2011 - freezed the car Insurance - cannot cash in the road tax unless i submit my privet number plate on paper or a new car! cost of 105.00 or 80.00.

going to wait till Nov - Dec and see what prices i can get a replacment car... - i know there will be problems along the way in any car i choose...at lease it will be cheaper then my Lex.

The Transporter - you are right in a way, but as mathunt71 says "too expensive and not suitable to the family" as before - son will be driving next year, daughter 13 and they have a life of there own no need for a family outing that much anymore. don't get me wrong i have the cash to repair the gearbox, but it seems not worth doing so..on paper, but looking at the car "YES" comes to mind.

Mathunt71 - My heart also bleeds when i was told by a scrap dealer that my LEX is worth just £500.00 min, even when its clean with no dents and has 4 new refurb alloys. i also am thinking about Ebay; once i buy a car and get the plate transfired i will sell it.

2 how much will it cost to fix into my car?

do i need to worried if it only gor a 30 day wanenty>? - or a 1200 refurb with a 12 mths wanenty is better ? also taken in the comment above.

rajesh - you cant tell the mileage on a gearbox

ive asked about and you ought to be able to get it fitted for between £150 - £350 depending on if you can get mates rates or pay a mobile mechanic to come and do it.

The 30 day warrenty is useful as long as you get the gearbox fitted as soon as its delivered so you would have plenty of time to drive the car and test for a problem,,, everyone says you have been really unlucky to get a duff autobox so shouldnt happen twice - MSC also has a good autobox he will sell

GO FOR IT. As you have found, your car is virtually worthless as it is. It would be a lot less effort than to strip the car to sell bits, ending up with a hulk outside your house that you have to pay to remove. A used gearbox is bound to be pretty much as new, and even if you are jinxed & it isn't totally A1; the car will still sell if it drives - for enough to cover the investment.

after some detail thinking - i have decided to get the car fixed via A1 Premier Transmissions or Lexus - mainly for the 12 months wanenty.

guys if i go and use a used greabox as you all state - fine get it fitted, and drive it to see if all is well, BUT if its not for any reason i will have to pay someone to take it out again....(a Pain) so -

gearbox 350 fitting 350 - if goes wrong another 200 - 300 = 900 - 1000, not so far away from 1200.....

going to compare the wanenty details from Lexus and A1 due to the mess i got from lexus hatfield. I have contacted the MD,Services Area Manager,Site Manager and sent a long email explaining my issues and problems of my case. on top of that i have filed a complate via my credit card company, and last not lease a email has gone to BBC watchdog.

i want some kind of cash or services from Lexus Hatfiled and i will not rest until i do.

some update -

car got picked up this afternoon... working on it from Monday 18th Oct

And had a call from the MD Lexus yesterday yesterday, he was not happy about the email i sent him and tryed to sort something out iether by a after service deal or work with A1 Premir transmission, as from his information they "Lexus Hatfield" use them as well, he may check and / or rebuse me my money.....

it's good that i have got to them, and he bothered to call me. (let's see what happens)

the Lexus MD - called 3 times so far....and offered me 250.00 cash or towards work via lexus.....while this is ongoing had letter from my credit company indicating that they are waiting for Lookers (lexus) BANK to get back to them regarding a full refund.....

what shell i do accpet Lexus 250 offer or wait?
