Just Bought These For My Ls

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have just bought a set of these THESE for my LS.

I had bought some previously for my Chrysler Grand Voyager and like the way the work.

If anyone is around Reading on Fri/Sat and wants to offer some help, please feel free to do so :)

It was easy getting the wires where they need to go on a Chrysler but I think the Lexus will be better made and I may struggle to get the wires through.

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike,

I was thinking of doing the same, maybe I should have done it before I scraped the bumper on a low concrete post!

Could you take some pictures of the install, maybe a tutorial?

Cheers,

Steve

Steve....snap, that's exactly why I am doing it. I reversed into the post outside my house last week....

Still, better late than never eh?

I've fitted a Veba AVRSNP number plate size sensor to my 430.It was a very easy fit about 1 hour and only needed 1 hole drilling. I got it fron Passionauto.co.uk and it was £33. The only snag may be that it is in black but it's not really very noticeable.

I can now get within 3 inches of my gate post.

Sounds interesting.......whats it like towards the outside edge of the car?

Hi Mike,

If you imagine reversing into a parking space (at right angles)then it starts beeping when the corner of my car is within about 2/3 feet of the corner of the car I am going next to. Next to a wall I can judge the gap within 6 inches

but I've never tried to go closer as I'd be very close with the mirror.

Hope this is what you mean.

I've had a more involved look at fitting my parking sensors and have decided that I just haven't got the bottle to drill 4 holes in my bumper. There doesn't seem to be too much room or access behind the bumper.

So I'm going to get the same thing as you Pete.

1 question though, where did you drill the 1 hole required? I though about going in behind the number plate?

Can you let me know where you have put the control box / buzzer too.

Thanks

Mike

Hello,

First make sure you have a standard size number plate not the extra deep one. Then---

Remove the sound deading cover from the boot lid.

Place the unit under the number plate and mark the mid point, drill using the hole saw provided. There is just enough space between the boot lid and the bracing strut.

Feed the wires go through this hole and into the boot lid(via the grommet).

Conect wire to live feed for reversing light and the other to earth.

The other lead is for the speaker which i simply ran down to under the parcel shelf, removed the boot light and popped the speaker up behind it-you may need to file a bit off the corner of the boot light for the single cable-and then taped up the wire.

The sensor unit is then fixed using the 3M sticky pads in the kit (angled down). The cable ties were included too.

On the latest units the control box is built in so at this point its finished. (The instructions are not the best translation ever so I had to query this last point with the supplier).

It was a very simple job. I wouldn't have had the confidence/nerve to drill my bumper either.

Hi Mike, I'm sure you've fitted your reversing sensors by now, but in case you haven't I fitted some to my older LS400, but not with the visual display unit. I just drilled the bumper and fed the wires through the rubber drain plug below the CD player in the boot(down the bottom of the side channel). I then fixed the bleeper unit by the CD player which is audible when you're in the car and made sure all the underneath wires were protected and taped up out of the way with duck tape.. Ian
