Welcome to the LOC here in the UK.

Not sure why the Kenwood needs this connection but I would assume it increases the volume automatically as the speed increases like some satellite navigation systems do.

The speed sensor is located on the transmission I believe and this is then fed to the ecu and then to the speedometer.

You really need the wiring diagram to locate the required wiring, you can get cheap CD ROM copies on eBay.
