2004 Rx300 Lpg Tank Type/location

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm planning to install LPG on my RX300 but I am unsure where the tank would go. Thought I could fit it instead of spare tire, but just discovered that the spare tire is under the car (never had to change it)

Were do I have to install the LPG tank and what type of tank would it be?

Thanks

Hi,just don't fit LPG, nothing but trouble, you will spend far more repairing the valves etc and get caught between the LPG installer and your Lexus dealer who will be un helpfull because they always advise you not to convert. Believe me I have been there and had a complete nightmare ! If LPG really worked why do no manufactures offer it as a option with these crazy fuel prices? A vehicle to run reliably on half price fuel, they would sell thousands yet a bloke in a shed can outsmart all the design experts who are striving to improve vehicle economy and so sell more.

I don't wish to sound sour, just hope nobody repeats my mistake !

Regards Tony

Hi, can't agree with previous reply. I've had a conversion done in March and it's superb. I think the key is to spend time researching your local LPG Installers as I came across some real cowboys. Can't speak highly enough of Installer who converted mine.

The tank is installed instead of the spare tyre. Mine's 65Litre useable.

  • 2 months later...

ive got the tank in the spare wheel well in the boot, ive had no problems running on gas for 12 months and the car was converted several years before i bought it.

vauxhall have been selling dual fuel cars for over ten years as far as i recall.

Lexus doesn't offer a diesel option on the rx either, maybe they know something we dont :shifty: lol

Seriously though, get the master cylinder recall work done first, because the dealer wont do it until you get the gas system removed out of they're way that cost me £80
