Is200 Engine Wash?

What method is safe to use to wash the engine of an IS200? I read somewhere that older Lexus cars are really sensitive for the standard "hosing down" treatment... My car is 10 years old this year and I don't think it has ever had its engine cleaned. What do I do?

I've used Autoglym machine cleaner on my engine bay a few times and had no problems when I rinsed it off with a hose. All the electric plugs on the lexus seal with a rubber o-ring so as long as you use low pressure water to rinse and avoid the intakes you should be fine.

If in doubt though, bag it up beforehand.

i usually cover up the alternator and any free wiring thats about it then as above just be gentle dont dive in there with a pressure washer lol

I cleaned and jet washed mine last month (IS200 Sport on X reg) neatly covered main bit ie fuse boxes with back, and sprayed some WD40 on plugs etc. apply a little care and common sense and its fine.
