Hi Guys,

I have viewed the forum for a while and see that you guys are able to help with just about anything (hopefully this carries on after my question!).

I do mainly motorway mileage and recently had a random stone bounce off the hood of my engine. It hasn't caused a dent or small chip BUT has caused the top layer of paint to be flaked. I got a quote from Lexus for a repair, which came to £480. This was due to the fact they would spray the side wings too, to keep the paint blended. I then went to a local garage, and the mechanic quoted me £130 for a spot spray. Being that I am keeping the car for a max of 2 years, before returning it to Lexus, he said it was a better option as not only is it cheaper but he could blend the new spray into the current shade.

Do any of you have any experience with spot spray jobs and if so, do I go for it?

Thanks in advance!

well, sometimes it is difficult even if you spray whole part to match the color with the rest of the car.

But good mechanic is good mechanic. If he is confident, make agreement with him, that if he fails, you won't pay.
