Front End Knock

Recommended Posts

Front lower ball joints are very common to go. I'd be looking there first. You'll find lots of threads on the subject http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=74023&st=0&p=761391&fromsearch=1entry761391

thanks i bought 2 lower ball joints some time ago but my mechanic said they were ok , ive put silicon spray

on hub area are the drop links supposed to pivot easily because these do . How hard is it to do ball joints by ourselves ?

Thought about buying a joint splitter and doing them myself. Asked lexus in derby if they knew about the dreaded knock

but they were not helpful without booking car in , i thought this was very common on this car thanks guys

Front ball joints are very common but I don't think Lexus like to admit to any common faults. They want to get you in their workshop & take your money rather than helping you diagnose the problem & take your money elsewhere. Makes good business sense but not much help your average enthusiast.

As you can see from the link I posted there's less than 1mm of play aloud in them. Pretty hard to detect on the car. I know when we did mine it wasn't until you got them off the car you could tell they were knackered.
