Cracking Noise In Dash & Heater Fan Is Poor

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone new to the site and grateful for any help

Haven driven an IS200 Sport for 8 years without any issues i have since upgraded and bought an IS220 SE 2006 77000 miles.

From the offset i have noticed that it takes an age for the car heaters to warm up, with the Fan at full speed it barely clears the windows until you are well into a long journey.

periodically i get a loud cracking noise which sounds like a large stone hitting the window from the dash area.

The MPG isnt very impressive with under 40 cruising on a motorway

any ideas ??

You may want to check your head gasket as there may be an issue here. Check these links for some info. In the meantime take a look at your radiator top up bottle water and also inside the neck of the oil filler cap. Good indicators of Head Gasket problems.

The crack sound is a known issue which can and should be remedied by Lexus {it's damned irritating isn't it?]. Check here

Try using the heated windscreen button. It will intensify the air flow to the screen and clear it in less than a minute. Its down under the steering wheel on the right hand side

The loud cracking noise is a safety feature - just when you are dropping off, it scares the daylights out of you! The first time it happened to me, I was convinced that a stone had hit the windscreen!
