Chrome Side Bars

Recommended Posts

I know that there has been some people a few years ago who have had chrome side bars fitted to their RX300, but I was wondering if anyone has had them fitted more recently ? I have a MK2 RX300 and I am looking for the chrome tubular type side bars (not side steps) which has two rubber inserts to step on. I have googled and ebayed and have found a few options, priced at about £200, but I have had some conflicting information in regards whether NO DRILLING is required. All I want is the ones which simply bolt on to the existing holes. Before anyone asks WHY do I want these, simply because of all the inconsiderate sods who swing their doors open in car parks and dont care what damage they do to other cars !! Cheers in advance for any feedback.

I have a similar question in regards to putting side bars on a RX 400h. Can't find much info on fitting requirements, all the adverts say they attach to pre-existing holes but according to a Lexus mechanic theses holes don't exist. Can anyone confirm if they are a straight bolt on without drilling or modification?

What they mean when they say there is no drilling and existing holes are used, they are correct, BUT, the holes are used with small metal strips which are pre drilled themselves and they slot into the existing holes and the bolts screw into them and secure them to the car. I have some which I sourced from Holland which are on my car and I have plenty of photos. If you give me your email address I will send you them. Saying that, there are some cars, like my old Toyota Rav which did actually simply bolt onto the car with the pre drilled existing holes. But Lexus are of course different. Makes one think what all these holes are actually for in the first place !! (I have tried loading one photo to show, but it says the file is too big !!!).
