Is220D Engine Splutter...

Recommended Posts

I've owned my 220d for 3 years, with only 27,000 miles & a full lexus service history. It has just started to run a little rough. When it's cold, it feels to have hardly any power until 1,500 revs, when the turbo kicks in. I have given it a good blast down the motorway, where it feels ok, but when driving at low revs, it feels a bit spluttery. Does anyone have any ideas, before I take it to the main dealer, as I am expecting a hefty bill?

It could be a number of things I assume there is no engine management light on?

The 220 engine has been plagued by problems particularly with the head gasket resulting in a near complete replacement engine being required.

I also understand there have been cases of EGR valve clogging which would explain the low revs power loss but I would have expected a fault code to have been flagged up and the EML therefore lit.

It looks like a visit to the dealer in on the books just make sure you are sitting down before the verdict is announced!

Please come back and let us know the outcome.
