Is220D Engine Splutter...

I've owned my 220d for 3 years, with only 27,000 miles & a full lexus service history. It has just started to run a little rough. When it's cold, it feels to have hardly any power until 1,500 revs, when the turbo kicks in. I have given it a good blast down the motorway, where it feels ok, but when driving at low revs, it feels a bit spluttery. Does anyone have any ideas, bfore I take it to the main dealer, as I am expecting a hefty bill?

I have a 220D, 2006 SEL. It has 65,000 miles on the clock. Been sluggish for a while, so had a chat with the technician who suggested cleaning the EGR valve. We live in Italy and it was done in Como. It was fully blocked. I was there alongside him when the job was done, so should be able to do it myself next time. 30mins labour (35 euros). I am so glad it was cleaned out, the difference is unbelievable, feels new again. Much smoother, no flat spots on the rev range and you don't need to change down so often!! He told me that all their 220D have theirs done as part of the service every 30KM. Hope this helps
