Hi have it changed asap.its supposed to be changed every six years or 60,000mls,which ever comes first, looking at it seems as if its never been changed, you are looking at an expensive repair if it does snap, better safe than sorry.

It's looks like something grinding it from the inside.

Posible from previous technical fitting.

Don't this happen again after i changed the timming belt.

Did call up garage for the parts to get the actual price.

You right there mate... Thanks

Do not start the car again until that belt, idler and tensioner has been replaced, whilst in there also replace the water pump.

The belt is completely breaking down, the white tufts you can see is the belt binding material and it is in critical condition.

Looking at the other photograph it seems it is also rubbing on the timing belt cover which will shorten its life even further this could be due to the tensioner or idler pulley bearings having failed allowing the belt to run untrue.

The belt is most stressed when starting and each time you do so could be the last time when the belt breaks.

These are interference engines so once the belt breaks the valves meet the pistons and that's is basically the end of the engine.

So spend a few hundred pounds now or several thousands if you leave it.

If you cannot do the job yourself I would seriously consider having the car towed or transported to the garage I certainly wouldn't risk driving it.

Thanks everyone

Its now done 160k changed round 140k that what shown on the label on front body frame in 2006.Guessing It shud have some life span left as there's no rubber crack on the belt beside those grinded bits on the side.

Just wondering what really causing it that's all. It's a old car but still in good condition (no knocking sound ....haha :P )

Will take ur advised ... will take the public transport from monday

Good thing I took off the cover and found out this soon...again... Thank you all
