Headlamp Switching Off

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone could offers advice on a strange problem I am having on my IS 250 SEL. Quite frequently the N/S headlight goes out but on every occasion I simply switch all lights off then on again and it works!

I have tried to associate it with heavy bumps in the road etc. but there doesn't appear to be any reason for it going out.

Any advice would be welcomed.

Hello and welcome to the LOC.

You don't mention the year of you IS250 but if you have HID lights there have been cases of the bulbs failing in this way.

The bulbs are expensive from Lexus but there are some good aftermarket suppliers.

If you do replace the bulb change them both as the light output and colour temperature may be slightly different from the originals.

There could of course be a loose connection but odds are on the bulb itself.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I feel a visit to Lexus coming on.

"Are you sitting comfortably on our luxurious leather sofa Sir, would you like an expresso from our excellent machine Sir, would you like todays paper to read Sir? Now you are completely relaxed here's your invoice Sir!

There's nothing like a Lexus dealer experience in pursuit of your money! :D

If your are covered under warranty just bring your own chair!
