Recommended Posts

Okay so this might be a silly question but im considering buying a 2nd hand IS200 but I'm sure I read somewhere a while a go that the back seats dont fold down? Is this the truth or am i just imagining things? Thanks for your help!! :)

To be fair mate even if they did fold down I doubt you'd get a bike in the boot as the opening is quite small.

As another poster suggested though a sport cross should do the job

Ha ha ha..... I can picture the meeting in the design department where all the brass debate as to whether or not the driver would ever need to transport a stick. All those years later you have proved that it was indeed a well worth desgn feature...

The sales glossies for the car could have had a headline banner....." The new Lexus IS200, It carries a stick"..... :hehe:

Lol on the beamers they call it a ski hatch - I can't think of a car I'd be less likely to take up a snowy mountain. My 5er used to spend most of its time looking in the wrong direction when it snowed!

I remember the last snow period we had i couldn't get the car up a 20% hill without curbing the wheels because the back kept sliding away.... turned the car around and reversed up the hill no problem :D but no i would not take the is200 to a ski resort without proper snow-chains on all for wheels and even then i would gladly leave it home!

Nah I'm quite sure the hatch is made for martial -art equipment ( swords/sticks etc) especially since that is a normal thing in the orients ;)

If you do a search for a video posted by one of our Scandinavian friends (I think it was Jay Russel) and his vid demonstrates what the IS can do on snow and ice given the right tecnique and the right tyres.... There are lots of Bavarians driving round the Alps quite happily in their rear wheel drive Beemers in Winter.

Seen it but I will not get snow tires 'cause of the fact that it rarely snows that bad ;)

hence my reaction I rather have my IS on v-grove racing tyres than something else so if the weather goes bad out comes the other car :D
