Hello Paul,The button you are on about ,sounds like the one that allows you to turn on/off the signal for the alarm when you operate the key fob, there is a single one when you set the alarm and a double one when you turn it off, the button turns off the sound when pressed,I always leave mine turned on,so you know it has locked.Lexus can let you have a key but it will cost you.

Hi Paul , my Mk 3 fob has three buttons on one side and a red panic one on the reverse ,there is an L stamped just above this .No mention of Toyota on any of my fobs ,its possible yours is a replacment fob from Toyota. There was a post several days back about a problem with a two button fob on a MK3, the guys who replied with MK 3's all had four button fobs .

Enjoy your new car!

If its an oblong fob with just 2 buttons I am sure its the right one. I also have a MK3, '95 but my fob is oblong with a balck & red button - I checked the owners manual & the diagram of the fob on the TDS (theft deterant system) is the same oblong fob with what it calls an ultrasonic select switch on the RH side as you look down to the buttons. It also says, in bold letters, the remote handsets are unique to your vehicle & not replaceable.
