Idle And Cold Start.

OK, sorry o be starting so many threads but I do have a few questions.

Is when warm the engine ticks over at a nice 800-900 rpm but when cold it revs up to nearly 2000rpm. Is this correct or can it be adjusted, the car does need a new lambda sensor mind.

Manual lists warm Idle speed as 650 rpm +/- 50

Yeah warm tick over is OK its the cold tick I'm not sure about.

Just popped out and double checked mine from cold.

Started at about 1500 rpm

After a few seconds dropped to about 1250 rpm.

Then after a few more seconds dropped to about 1000 rpm.

Cheers m8, mine takes a bit longer than a few seconds, I can drive diwn the shop and back and it will then drop to 1250ish, sounds like a throtle body clean then .

If you know there's a new sensor required somewhere is it fair to assume the idle is wrong ?

Might be an idea to wait until the sensor is sorted before looking for more problems.

I doubt a throttle body clean up will hurt though.

Yeah I will do lambda sensor first, I don't think it will make much differences as when I have cleared code it don't make any difference.

Lambda senor done and its a little better but still a lot higher and takes a lot longer to lower revs from cold to what most cars I've had does.

Mine revved high at idle when I first got it. Same as yours.

I took it to Lexus on the 3rd day of ownership for a full service.

When I picked it up it no longer revved high at idle, I just assumed that the service sorted it but they may have adjusted it or done something else? I don't know. No extra on the bill tho.

Mine and my wife's 200SE both rev at 1500 rpm on start up then when warm at about 500-700 I would say. They both take no more than 5 mins to be up to optimum temperature. (Driving that is)
