Heater Control

Recommended Posts

Got this clicking noise behind the dash which goes away if I turn the heater up to 28c (max). From what I have read it could be the servo motor which opens and closes the heater door. If it is, they are quite expensive to replace. Has anyone had this problem?

May be on to something. Removed the glove box lid. There are a number of black boxes (servos) which open and close various doors for the heating and ventilation system. The lowest one I put my hand on as I moved the temperature dial. I could feel the mechanism working. I could also see a white lever behind it which moves up and down with the alteration in temperature. Couldn`t remove the servo to have a look inside so I just sprayed the operating arm as best I could with WD40. The clicking noise has now gone away. For how long I don`t know.

I think maybe things get very dry under the dash for all the mechanical gears and operating arms and ventilation doors. If you add in the dry a/c then it, maybe, is not surprising.
